Yeske Buie
Elissa Buie, CFP® considers herself a “Financial Planning Evangelist®.” She is in her 40th year in this profession. She is a past President of National FPA® (ICFP), past Chair of the Foundation for Financial Planning and a Dean in the FPA Residency Program. She is the recipient of the P Kemp Fain, Jr. Award, Investment News Alexandra Armstrong Lifetime Achievement Award, Washingtonian Magazine Hall of Fame of Financial Advisors recognition and appeared in the inaugural Financial Times Top 100 Women in Finance.
Elissa is co-Founder, along with her husband Dr. Dave Yeske, of Yeske Buie. Yeske Buie is committed to diversity and inclusivity, and to supporting young people entering the profession. It has helped initiate and grow the profession’s In-Residence program and has a robust internship program. Yeske Buie prides itself on the use of Policy-Based Financial Planning® and Evidence-Based Financial Planning®, both topics championed and published on by Elissa and Dave. Elissa’s article, “To Feel … Like a CFP” was published in the Journal of Financial Planning in 2000. Elissa has been quoted in many major publications and has appeared multiple times on TV, her favorite appearance being with Matt Lauer on The Today Show. Elissa is a Distinguished Adjunct Professor with the oldest Masters in Financial Planning program in the country, Golden Gate University.
Elissa holds a Bachelor of Science in Commerce from the McIntire School at the University of Virginia and an MBA from the University of Maryland. One of her current favorite activities is volunteering at Muttville in San Francisco, a senior dog rescue organization.
